History
Omaha Performing Arts
In June 2000, the Omaha Performing Arts Society was formed as a nonprofit organization
dedicated to enriching the lives of the citizens of Omaha and surrounding communities
through the presentation of the finest local, national, and international artistic performances.
Central to the organizations mission are education and community involvement programs
that encourage young people and adults to more fully appreciate and participate in the
performing arts. These programs include workshops, master classes, pre-performance and
post-performance discussions with artists, and community-focused collaborations.
As part of its charge, Omaha Performing Arts manages the Orpheum Theater and Holland
Performing Arts Center. In addition, Omaha Performing Arts brings a variety of outstanding
entertainers to both facilities through its presenting series Omaha Performing Arts Presents,
currently celebrating its third season.
The Orpheum Theater
Originally constructed as a vaudeville house in 1927, the Orpheum Theater underwent a $10
million renovation in 2002 to restore its ornate splendor and enhance the overall experience
of both patrons and performers. Today, the majestic theater hosts programs best served by a
more theatrical setting, including the Broadway In Omaha series and Opera Omaha.
Holland Performing Arts Center
Opened in October 2005, Holland Performing Arts Center is a cultural landmark. Built with
the overwhelming support and generosity of the Omaha community, the Holland Center
marks the collaboration of a world-class team of architects, designers, and acousticians, all
tasked with creating a performing arts venue to be envied anywhere. Capable of hosting
various forms of entertainment, the Holland Center specializes in events requiring a more
acoustical environment, including performances by the Omaha Symphony.
Ticket Omaha
Ticket Omaha, the local ticketing service established by Omaha Performing Arts, provides outstanding customer service, information, and ticket sales for events at the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center. Ticket Omaha is also available to organizations in need of a ticketing service for events taking place at venues other than the Orpheum Theater and Holland Center.
