High school juniors and seniors are invited to apply for this year-long musical theater education program. Accepted students receive a full scholarship that includes admission to Broadway performances, interactions with members of the tour companies, musical theater workshops and advanced training and career preparation. Applications for the 2008/2009 Club Orpheum program will be accepted from Jan. 1 to May 1, 2008.
1200 CLUB YOUNG ARTIST NIGHTS
Omaha's talented next generation of artist take center stage in the spectacular atmosphere of 1200 Club at the Holland. Each presentation features a unique theme and a select group of young performers from throughout the Omaha area. Performances are offered free of charge.
Planned dates for the 2007/2008 season are: Sunday, October 21, 2007 Sunday, January 20, 2008 Sunday, February 24, 2008 Sunday, March 9, 2008 Sunday, April 20, 2008
ARTS ADMINISTRATION ACTIVITES
Students and educators interested in learning more about careers in an arts organization are welcome to participate in a customized experience with Omaha Performing Arts that includes behind the scenes tours, sessions with our marketing, development, programming and production teams, simulated projects and job shadowing.
OMAHA PERFORMING ARTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM College students looking for on-the-job experience in the performing arts are welcome to apply for a limited number of unpaid administration internships. This program is expected to expand into a year-round and summer program during the 2008/2009 season.
CREATIVITY CONVERSATIONS AND ARTIST ENCOUNTERS
CREATIVITY CONVERSATIONS Arrive one hour before classical or jazz series concerts and enjoy a beverage and a pre-show discussion with the artists and specialists as they offer insights into that performance and genre. ARTIST ENCOUNTERS Community and student groups are invited to host question and answer sessions with touring artists or local arts professionals. Held in classrooms or community centers, Artist Encounters enable the artists to share their professional lives and experiences and offer a show preview or follow-up discussion.
MASTER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR ARTISTS AND EDUCATORS
These special, limited-enrollment sessions are offered in the areas of dance, music and theatre, according to the availability of the artist. Master classes are already planned for:
