The 17-member ensemble breathes new life into a 1,400-year-old musical tradition. Yamato Drummers of Japan's performance is infused with the idea that the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life. Masa Ogawa, the group’s artistic director, explains, “We believe that everything alive has a rhythm, just as human beings do. It is not just a heartbeat, but it describes the energy that people feel when they are together.”

Omaha Performing Arts had an incredible evening on Friday, August 26, 2011, celebrating the first five years since the opening of the Holland Performing Arts Center and the beginnings of Omaha Performing Arts. A private dinner was held in the Scott Recital Hall for the more than 250 people who helped make the Holland Center and Omaha Performing Arts possible.

Young Artists' Night - Omaha's Brightest Learn From the Best

Omaha's talented next generation of artists take center stage in the spectacular atmosphere of the Holland's Scott Recital Hall for a series of Young Artists' Nights.  Each presentation features a unique theme highlighting one specific genre of performance presented by a select group of young performers from throughout the Omaha area.  Our most recent Young Artists' Night, Broadway Songbook with Dave Barrus, was held in January. A group of talented high school and college students from the Omaha area had the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a Broadway star... from a Broadway star! One of the students shares her Young Artists' Night experience.
