The 17-member ensemble breathes new life into a 1,400-year-old musical tradition. Yamato Drummers of Japan's performance is infused with the idea that the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life. Masa Ogawa, the group’s artistic director, explains, “We believe that everything alive has a rhythm, just as human beings do.
