Spank The Fifty Shades Parody

SPANK!: The Fifty Shades Parody is coming! SPANK!: The Fifty Shades Parody is coming!

Not familiar with this show?

SPANK! is musical comedy described as “S&M meets SNL” by Suzanne Sole, who plays the narrator E.B. Janet in the show. It’s based on a wildly popular (and risqué) book series, but in interviews, cast members say you don’t need to have read the books to enjoy the performance. It helps, you get a little extra out of “Spank,” but it’s not necessary.

Whalen in SpankIn addition to Sole, the cast includes Alice Moran as Tasha Woode (the Anastasia Steele-like character whom Moran describes as “a 10-year-old boy in the body of a 22-year-old”) and Patrick Whalen as Hugh Hanson (the Christian Grey-like character).

Books aren’t the only thing parodied in SPANK! – songs get a sexy makeover, too. You’ll never hear Willy Wonka sing "Pure Imagination" the same way again after hearing "Room of Sexy Domination." SPANK! will involve some audience participation, as well, but don’t worry, no one needs to sign an non-disclosure agreement.

What do you think? Sound like a fun time? Go gather some friends for a fun girl’s night out! And don’t forget, come early to enjoy some pre-show cocktails and stay late to get your photo with Whalen.

Omaha Performing Arts presents SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody for three performances on Thursday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, at 8:00 p.m. in the Orpheum Theater.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I will say this.....I would see it again and again and again. I haven't laughed that much or that hard in a long time!!! Went with friendds 1 which had not read the book and she was laughing as much as me. This really was a perfect ladies night out play. The actors (all 3 of them) were FABULOUS, FUNNY and so very TALENTED. Thank you for bringing this to Omaha it was so enjoyable.
