Located in downtown Omaha, the majestic Orpheum Theater is an elegant, beautifully restored landmark theater. Originally built in 1927 as a vaudeville house, the Orpheum was later converted into a downtown movie theater. The building was renovated again in 1974 as a performing arts venue. In 2000, Omaha Performing Arts accepted management of the Orpheum Theater, overseeing an extensive restoration that substantially enhanced the venue’s ornate design and acoustical qualities.

With a proscenium stage and extensive sound and lighting capabilities, the Orpheum is a multi-purpose theater with a capacity of 2,600 people. The stage is constructed to allow for on-stage flying capability and off-stage wing space. Touring Broadway stage presentations and musical reviews have found the Orpheum to be an excellent venue for their productions.
