Listen to the Future: Come hear the combined professionalism of The Omaha Symphony and enthusiasm of the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras! To celebrate OAYO’s 65th season and Aviva Segall’s 25th and final season, the orchestra will perform the Shostakovich Festival Overture. Following that will be a piece commissioned by the Kansas City Youth Symphony to celebrate their 60th anniversary, City Beautiful by Ingrid Stölzel. Ending the performance is a audience and musician favorite, Symphony #8 by Dvorak.

Trinidad born Etienne Charles is a performer, composer and storyteller, who is continuously searching for untold stories and sounds with which to tell them. His lush trumpet sound, varied compositional textures and percussive grooves soothe and excite listeners while tackling difficult subjects in his music. In Earth Tones, he puts on a multimedia jazz performance documenting peoples and regions that are, and will be, severely affected by climate change.
Join us for a thrilling night of poetry as the final four teams of the All Writes Reserved (AWR) Youth Spoken Word Festival bring their original, spoken word poetry to the Holland Performing Arts Center.
Students from more than 30 middle schools, high schools, and community sites across Nebraska and Southwest Iowa have spent eight months rehearsing and perfecting their poetry as they prepare for their moment on stage. Five judges will determine the highest-scoring team and crown our 2023 AWR champions.
